The Executive: Talent at Curro Holdings plays a pivotal role in shaping the organisation’s human capital strategy.  This senior leadership position is based in Cape Town, with regular travel across SADC,  and reports directly to the Deputy CEO. The incumbent will be responsible for driving talent management initiatives across the organization, ensuring alignmet with Curro’s strategic goals.

 

Dimensions of the role:

Strategic talent leadership:

  • Develop and implement a progressive talent strategy that anticipates future needs for business expansion.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to align talent initiatives with Curro's vision and mission.
  • Cultivate a culture of excellence, innovation, and inclusivity.

 

Talent acquisition and recruitment excellence:

  • Oversee the entire recruitment process, from sourcing to onboarding.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including recruitment agencies and educational institutions.
  • Advocate for excellence, innovation, diversity and inclusion in talent acquisition drives.

 

Performance management and development:

  • Implement robust performance management systems.
  • Drive employee development through targeted training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Monitor performance metrics for individual and team effectiveness.

 

Employee engagement and retention:

  • Create programmes to enhance employee engagement and retention.
  • Address employee concerns promptly to foster a positive environment.
  • Conduct exit interviews to gain insights into turnover trends.

 

Leadership development and succession planning:

  • Identify high-potential employees and create tailored development plans.
  • Facilitate leadership development programmes to nurture future leaders.
  • Ensure a well-defined succession planning process to mitigate talent gaps.

 

 

The nature of this post will require flexibility to meet urgent work needs as they arise. This will inevitably entail some work outside normal office hours. The job description, therefore, is not intended to be exhaustive. The post holder will be expected to adopt a flexible attitude to the duties, which may have to be varied after discussion, subject to the needs of the service and in keeping with the general profile.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven track record in talent management, ideally within the education sector or a dynamic corporate environment.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive positive change.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Familiarity with labour laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • A high standard of written English
  • The ability to communicate confidently with a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to manage conflicting demands and priorities
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages including Word, Outlook and ExcelExperience, of the schools/education sector
  • Experience of management or supervision of staff
  • Experience of search and headhunting
  • In-depth knowledge of the education context and changes in legislation
